Trade Show and Convention Production Supervisor

Job Location: 1821 Bedford Avenue, North Kansas City, MO 64116

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the in-house and onsite production of events, conventions and trade shows
  • Supervise, assist and coordinate the loading and movement of equipment and freight between warehouse, convention facilities or other show-site locations.
  • Interpret specifications of floor plans and job orders, generate work orders and equipment delivery list and distribute to in-house departments and show site workers.
  • Coordinate with various departments to fill customer requirements for assigned shows and events with Sales staff
  • Estimate and schedule labor requirements and supervise union employees at show locations.
  • Coordinate schedules with facility staff and suppliers
  • Assist in other departments as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two or more years related supervisory experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience in the Transportation and Logistic.
  • Complete and submit all internal reports in a timely manner
  • Must have basic computer knowledge and skills
  • Good Communication skills and a professional demeanor
  • Must be able to multitask, work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Excellent customer service skills required
  • Good driving record and Class E License Required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Limited Travel is required.

Trade Show Drapery Supervisor

Job Summary: The primary role is to work as part of the Drapery department, assisting the production and warehouse team in the coordination of the varied details of requests and tasks. This role will provide the much-required production support. Effective time management is essential for this role. The primary responsibility is to keep all aspects in the drapery process organized and on calendar.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Drape orders for upcoming shows with accurate count of items needed from filling work orders
  • Verify and restock inventory when return from trade shows & events
  • Help organization of drapery department (including operate sewing machine)
  • Fold, sort, and clean all drapery and linen (repair if needed)
  • String drapes for shows
  • Perform other related duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to Lift and or move up to 50 pounds
  • Prior experience in the Drapery & linen but NOT mandatory
  • Drive Forklift and operate pallet jacks as needed to pull and restock from shelving
  • Good Communication skills and a professional demeanor
  • Must be able to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Excellent customer service skills required
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Overtime and weekends sometimes may be required as show schedule permits

Audio Visual Technician

The In-House A/V Technician position is responsible for A/V & Exhibit Production onsite setup and dismantle of meeting room audio visual and exhibit production equipment. The candidate will liaison with convention center and hotel sales persons, service managers and staff to ensure the successful execution of all trade shows, meetings and event productions. This includes coordinating the process from agreement to final billing for the overall event by exceeding customer satisfaction and expectation for any and all events.

Key Job Functions:

  • Perform as an A/V technician on a regular basis which includes design, physical set up and tear down of audio visual / production equipment (lifting involved).
  • Understands the technical aspects of the job and demonstrates basic operational ability to troubleshoot and problem solve with equipment and software issues.
  • Ability to resolve equipment challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensures a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely set up, operation and breakdown of audio-visual equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, adapt to a constant changing environment and lead by example.
  • Work with customers prior to, the day of, and during meetings and events to ensure proper staffing, required equipment and make real time adjustments as necessary.
  • Understands and foster the hotel/client relationship by establishing excellent working relationships with Convention Center & Hotel Event Services staff, executives, company team members and all vendors.
  • Participate in designated sales and site visits with customers and/or event planners to determine their individual standards for onsite productions as it relates to audio visual or tradeshow support.
  • Maintain prospects and accounts, establish and maintain customer relationships.

Technical Requirements:

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the audio visual and/or technical theatre field

Working knowledge of:

  • Audio Visual equipment including: professional & consumer projectors, digital/analog lighting and audio microphones, mixers and signal path
  • IMAG Camera
  • Standard and high watt electrical services
  • Rigging and lift operation
  • Basic computer software programs and system
  • Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Two to four (2-4) years of convention, audio visual, special event, trade show, hospitality industry related experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform in a high pressured, fast paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi task effectively and efficiently.
  • Proficiency with setting up and operating a live video switcher. Proficiency with multitasking to direct camera operator while operating video switcher and audio mixer during live events. An understanding of up to date video capture and live video formats as well as video protocols and procedures
  • Preferred experience with Rigging and Truss, Chain motors and Lighting/Sound
  • Ability to follow directions and take orders
  • Strong professional verbal, written and electronic communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and strategies.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Knowledge and skill set of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other administrative office equipment.

Other Position Requirements

  • Irregular hours and on call status to include days, evenings, weekends
  • Ability to pull, push and lift up to fifty pounds of materials and equipment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. (shows/events site venues)
  • Ability to operate forklift (if not prior experience, willingness to train on equipment to become proficient)
  • Ability to operate Scissor, Boom and Man lifts (if not prior experience, willingness to train on equipment to become proficient)
  • Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines (hair length, facial hair and).
